International Social Work Practice Unit
The International Social Work Practice Unit is open to all NASW-NC members and was developed to support connections for social workers who have or desire to have international experience. The practice unit will hold meetings at NASW-NC conferences, will assist with development of an International Social Work Center, expand the International Social Work section of the Lending Library and develop other member led activities.
A Successful Conference
The International Track of the NASW NC Fall Conference was a real success. There were excellent presentations from Raleigh Bailey of the Center for New North Carolinians and two amazing students, Kelly Cadilla, UNC and Haley Hendrix, NC State. Everyone who joined us on the field trips to the Emma Family Resource Center and Nuestra, two Asheville area agencies servicing immigrants and refugees, found them to be both informative and inspiring. The opportunity to view an amazing array of films on international social issues was really well received. The International Practice Unit will be thinking about when to do this again.
Let us know your thoughts on the listserve. If you are an NASW NC member and want to join the IPU listserve please email one of us and we will be glad to add you to the list.

Get Involved!
The International Practice Unit is currently gathering names of social workers who have international experience. We plan on creating databases of those who can be presenters about international social work issues, those who are willing to write articles for the web page and Chapter newsletter, and those who are willing to be a resource for other social workers who may be planning to travel internationally. If you are a social worker who falls into one of these categories please contact Chair Gail Kenyon at kenyon.gail@gmail.com.
