Men's Social Work Practice Unit

The Men's Practice Unit was established to support male social workers and allow for networking among male social workers, developing a concentrated focus on recruiting more men into the social work profession, recruiting more men as members of NASW, discussing the issues and concerns that are unique to men in a female dominated profession, and develop programs that meet the needs of male social workers.

News & Activities

  • The First meeting of the practice unit was held in July 2007 at the annual Clinical Social Work Summer Institute.  This first meeting served as a beginning point for pulling men together and beginning to list the needs, issues and concerns, and to establish networking opportunities.
  • A second meeting was held in November 2007 at the NASW-NC Annual Fall Conference in Asheville, and discussions about networking opportunities and the unique needs of male social workers.
