Official Program Description
As the United States is experiencing growth in the number of older adults in our society, so too are we in North Carolina. The enormous increase in life expectancy is causing a shift in how social workers are preparing for practice with aging baby-boomers. Demographic trends, lifestyle dynamics, health, and well-being are important practice considerations to ensure optimal quality of life for all people.
Transformative approaches, knowledge, skills, and values that are specifically focused on older adults are essential components of this continuing education program. Participants will: (1) discuss trends and transitions in older adulthood, (2) explore practice models with diverse groups, and (3) identify resources for quality of life across the life course.
