Finance Committee

Committee Charge

The Finance Committee is a standing committee mandated by the bylaws of NASW and NASW-NC. The Finance Committee is accountable to the Board of Directors and is chaired by the Treasurer. Responsibilities of the Finance Committee include reviewing and recommending for approval the annual Chapter budget, reports on the income, expenditures and investments of the Chapter, and initiating review of the Chapter Fiscal policies. The Finance Committee is also charged with bringing to the attention of the Board all other issues regarding Chapter finances that require the Board's consideration and approval. The Finance Committee meets prior to every Board meeting, which is currently at least six times per year. Committee composition includes diverse statewide representation from each of the Chapter's six Districts and is staffed by the Chapter Director and Business and Office Manager.

Did you know the two main sources of income for the Chapter are membership dues and conferences?  Membership dues account for almost 68% of Chapter income and conferences generate approximately 23%.  While these percentages have remained relatively constant over the last few fiscal years, we are dedicated to diversifying and increasing our income sources.  If you have creative ideas about how we can do this or are interested in joining the Finance Committee, send an email to tsouders@email.unc.edu and in the subject line note: Finance Committee ideas!
