Kathy was selected as the National NASW Chapter Director of the Year in 2000. Prior to her work with NASW-NC, Kathy spent 6 years with Johnston County Mental Health Center in Smithfield, NC where she worked as the Consultation and Education Coordinator. Director of Continuing Education - Hope Murdock, BA Hope Murdock received her BA in Spanish from Meredith College. Her most recent professional focus has been educational conference management for medical professionals. Hope comes to us with a background in meeting planning and familiarity with nonprofit associations. She has worked in this arena for the past 10 years. Director of Advocacy and Legislation - Jack Register, MSW, LCSW Jack received a BA in Sociology from Guilford College and his MSW from the Joint MSW Program at NC A&T SU & UNCG. Jack is licensed and has practice experience in medical, mental health, substance abuse, and non profit settings. Director of Membership Services - Melissa Reaser, MSW Melissa received a BA in Psychology and an MSW from East Carolina University. She was previously an intern in the NASW-NC office, and was subequently employed as our Projects Specialist. Prior to her return to NASW-NC, Melissa worked with disability entitlement and family/domestic law. Business and Office Manager - Debbie Conner, BA Debbie has a BA in political science from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has extensive experience in accounting/payroll/bookkeeping/general business management and office management. She is currently pursuing an MSW from North Carolina State University. The NASW-NC Board of Directors is comprised of 23 Board members who are elected from the Chapter membership. All Board members serve 3 year terms with the exception of BSW and MSW student representatives, president-elect and treasurer-elect who hold one year terms. Board terms follow the Chapter fiscal year which begins July 1 and ends June 30th each year. The Board of Directors holds 6 meetings during the year, including an annual Board retreat. All Board meetings, with the exception of executive sessions, are open to the membership. Board members hold the fiscal responsibility for the association and therefore discuss association policy and programming and set chapter policies concerning social work practice issues.
