Advocacy FAQsI want to become involved but do not know how The first thing to do is to contact the chapter office. You will find a wealth of information on NASW and what social workers in NC are doing. You will find a myriad of committees and opportunities to volunteer and become involved. I am frustrated by the licenusre process and am not sure what to do or who to talk to This is a common experience of our members. NC is experiencing massive system transformation within the MH/DD/SA arena. First, discuss your unique experience with your clinical supervisor and the licenusre and certification board. Second, join the PLCSW taskforce if you are a PLCSW. If you are fully licensed, volunteer as a mentor to PLCSWs. Third, communicate, communicate, communicate. Stay up on the changes in the licenusre law by being active with the PLCSW taskforce, communicate with the licensure board, communicate with your agency and clincial supervisor, communicate with the LME. We are all in this experience together. The consumers and families we serve need us! I am not sure who represents me in the NC General Assembly There are three ways you can get this information: a. Go to the Advocacy Alerts page of our website and complete the zipcode information. b. Go to the State Board of Elections website and search by your zipcode. c. Go to the General Assembly's website and search under Who represents me? in the sidebar. I am looking for legislation and do not know where to go If you are looking for legislation at the Federal level go to the Thomas Server. Here you will need a keyword or bill number search. If you are looking for legislation at the State level go to the General Assembly's website. Here you can search by legislative session, keyword, or bill number. I am looking for a bill that may have passed in the last session of the General Assembly and cannot find it Go to the legislative agenda page of our site and look in the sidebar for the legislative report for the last session. I am looking for "what is happening now" information Go to Hull House NC, the NASW-NC social work policy blog for information about what is happening now.
