Licensure PreparationLCSW Exam Prep SessionsNASW-NC provides two LCSW Exam Prep Sessions per calendar year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Both Prep Sessions are held at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC and offer 5 contact hours of continuing education. NASW members receive a reduced registration fee. Click here for more information about our Prep Sessions. ASWB Study GuidesThe Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) developed the exams that are used in North Carolina for licensure and certification. ASWB publishes and sells study guides for each of their national exams. Those study guides are available for NASW-NC members only to borrow from the Chapter office at no charge through our Lending Library. If you are a NASW-NC member and would like to borrow an ASWB study guide, click here to download the Lending Library Request Form. Simply complete this form and e-mail, fax, or mail it back to the Chapter office using the contact info provided on the form. You may also call the Chapter office at 800-280-6207 or 919-828-9650. You will be able to borrow the study guide for a period of 2 weeks. You will then need to return the study guide to the NASW-NC Chapter office at your own expense. Other Study Guide MaterialsMany individuals use resources such as the NASW Social Work Dictionary or the NASW Social Work Encyclopedia in preparation for licensure or certification exams. These resources, as well as others, are available for NASW-NC members to borrow through the Chapter Lending Library. Simply contact the Chapter office for more information and to check on availability. Again, you would be able to borrow any resources from the Lending Library for a period of 2 weeks, and will be expected to return them to the Chapter office at your own expense. ConsultationIf you are a NASW-NC member and would like to consult with someone about licensure and credentials in general, please contact Kathy Boyd at the NASW-NC Chapter office at 800-280-6207 or 919-828-9650, or email her at naswncdirector@naswnc.org. NASW-NC suggests that you refer to the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board (NCSWC&LB) for information regarding licensure and certification. The NCSWC&LB sets the standards for qualifications, training, and experience for those who pursue and acquire social work certification and/or licensure in North Carolina.
