Title: Practitioner to Professor:  Strategies for Preparing for Teaching Social Work Education

Presenters: Sonyia Richardson, MSW, LCSW

Sonyia serves as the BSW Program Director and Lecturer with the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.  Her teaching and service interests focus on social work practice, ethics, policy, management, and diversity courses for undergraduate and graduate social work students. Additionally, she is a doctoral student within the Curriculum and Instruction Urban Education program at UNC Charlotte. 

Amy Peters, MSW

Amy earned her MSW in 1995 at Fordham University and her BSW in 1994 at Marist College.  She currently serves as the Assistant Director for the School of Social Work and as a senior lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  Amy previously served as the Admissions Director, Assistant Field Director, and as a faculty liaison for the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative at the same institution.  .  Ms. Peter has served on the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board and the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools Board.  Amy is a proud member of NASW, NC.

Learning Objectives:

1.       To understand how the 2015 CSWE EPAS competencies align with social work education.

 

2.       To learn strategies for moving from practitioner to professor.

 

3.       To develop a teaching philosophy that aligns with social work practice experience.

Registration: Seating will be limited to 30 participants, so reserve your spot early! If you plan to attend this training please register by September 10, 2018.

 

We have moved to online registration and payment ONLY. Once you pay your money it cannot be refunded and it will be your responsibility to find someone to take your spot if you can no longer attend.
