Wake County Young Child Mental Health Collaborative Training Series- The developing brain, trauma, and building resilience through trauma informed care

Description

This course will allow participants to view the documentary, Broken Places, which explores why some children are severely damaged by early adverse experiences and others are able to thrive. Instructors will provide an overview of early brain development, the way the young brain functions in regard to behavioral responses to the world, and how nurturing and positive parenting/rearing are crucial for a developing brain. Prevention efforts and tenets for becoming a trauma informed community will be outlined as well as how we go from grassroots to global to impact children and youth in our communities.
