Title: Religious Cults, Still A Thing...

Overview: Most clinicians are not trained to help with the after-effects of mind control and cult-related problems. Researchers estimate that over the past 30-40 years 2.5 million people have joined a cult. A common complaint is that therapists ignore, minimize, or simply do not understand the deception, manipulation, and mind control that are hallmarks of the cult experience. As Social Workers, it’s critical that we are aware of the impact of cults and the implications for practice to be better equipped to support and empower those we work with.
