Workshop Description:

This training will include foundational information about Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth, statistics about their experiences, appropriate terminology, and best practices for how to support members of this community.

Participants will learn how negative experiences impact their emotional wellbeing and physical safety, as well as how affirmation and support can increase their resiliency and survivability. By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a stronger understanding of the lived experiences of LGBTQ youth.
  2. Better understand and utilize the language around gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation
  3. Utilize inclusive best practices that affirm LGBTQ clients, be more informed of inclusive resources for this community and explore implications for Social Work practice.
