Title: Social Workers as Policy Advocates

 

Overview: Social Workers can play an important role in influencing public policy, which can help marginalized people have access to needed services. Come learn strategies for public policy advocacy from State Representative Graig Meyer.

 

Objectives: This presentation will help social workers:

  • Understand the political and public policy sectors
  • Encourage social workers to engage in public policy advocacy while complying with ethical standards and non-profit law
  • Develop skills for advocating directly to elected officials and government staff
