Substance Abuse is a current issue challenging older adults.  There are many reasons for this reality: many doctors treating the same patient, medicine sharing among older adults, loneliness, and depression are some of the factors involved.  Physicians and Social Workers may miss these symptoms and issues because older adults do not fit the profile for a “typical” substance abuser.  This session will examine factors causing substance abuse among older adults and interventions that can be helpful.
