Topic: Trauma Treatment and Group Therapy


Learning Objectives:

  1. Review Current Understandings of Trauma and Trauma Treatments
  2. Review of Group Therapy with Specific Attention to Modern Analytic Approach to Group Therapy.
  3. Group Demonstration of treatment modality and explore implications for Social Work practice.

Presenter Information: Larry Liebgold, MA, LPC

Larry was born and raised in California. He has lived in various parts of the country. Has his BA is psychology from University of Tennessee, in Chattanooga, his Masters in Clinical Mental Health from Adams State University, in Colorado. Larry is a Certified Gestalt Therapist and a Certified Group Psychotherapist. His couple's training is in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, and group training is in Modern Analytic Group Psychotherapy. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in North Carolina and Colorado. For the past 14 years, Larry has facilitated, on average, five men's and women's groups a week. The groups focused on healing trauma, abuse, anger management, and relationship violence. Larry is a member of the American Counseling Association, American Group Psychotherapy Association, and the Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy. Larry is married and together has six grown children.
