Playshop:  Addressing Compassion Fatigue through Play

Facilitator:  Doris Curry, LCSW of Sage-Heart Counseling PLLC

Wear play clothes, and leave your PowerPoint expectations behind!  This is an experiential workshop.  Gain exposure to the interpersonal neurobiology of play.  Understand the important benefits play can provide in helping to alleviate compassion fatigue.

Objectives:

1)    Gain an introductory understanding of interpersonal neurobiology.

2)    Participate in planned play activities to understand firsthand how play affects emotional regulation.

3)    Explore ideas for incorporating more play into life.

4)    Be reminded that person-in-environment includes people working in the helping professions.

5)    Explore ways to expand the personal environment to include a social life with play.

6)    Increase personal insight by reflecting on personal history of play.
