Do you have a client requesting more than one session per week? Is your client not showing as much improvement in traditional outpatient therapy? Do you believe your client would benefit from a more intensive intervention in order to prevent a future crisis? Join The Pines at Holly Hill Outpatient for a lunch and learn (1 CE) to learn more about less-restrictive levels of care: partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. Many of us can define "PHP" or "IOP" but understanding the benefits of participating in a group therapy-based program can help both clinician and client. For the clinician, understanding and being able to speak to the benefits of a PHP or IOP can help support your self-care by reducing your level of risk when working with a more demanding client. For the client, understanding that participating in an outpatient program can help them go from feeling "just okay" to "much improved" while avoiding potential inpatient treatment. The client can also remain under the care of his/her outpatient therapist for a stronger continuum of care. For clients who work, the same benefits when receiving physical rehabilitation can apply to participation in a PHP or IOP-without the fear of being stigmatized. Together we can help our clients stay home for the holidays, while getting truly better.
