In honor of Social Work Month: UNC Wilmington School of Social Work is very pleased to offer the following seminar with the assistance of NASW North Carolina.

 

Title: Expanding Knowledge and Skills with Technology and Substance Use Disorders Treatment and Recovery

 

Sponsored by the UNCW School of Social Work via the Expansion of Practitioner Education (Prac-Ed) grant from SAMHSA and The Council on Social Work Education. 

 

This innovative training will include some of the latest as well as widely recognized tools for the assessment and treatment of Substance Use Disorders. Designed to enhance the curriculum in the School of Social Work, required of students within the Substance Use Disorders and Addictions Program and is also open to students, Field Instructors, Faculty and community partners with interest in substance use treatment and recovery.

 

Speakers: Brian Williamson, MSW, LCSW, LCAS, CCS, Part Time Faculty, UNCW and Donald McDonald, MSW, RCP, Behavioral Health Recovery Consultant, DMcDRecovery.

 

Topics include the application of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria, Ethics in treatment and recovery with Substance Use Disorders, the use of Apps for prevention and recovery support, Social Media and Future Trends in Technology and Substance Use.
