Come learn about Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). An introduction to the core concepts behind EAP, the benefits of this experiential modality, and the types of clients served by Horse Sense will be presented. The presentation will also offer a brief overview of the Trauma-Focused EAP model, which is the gold standard of treatment in EAP.



Shannon Knapp, MA, is founder and president of both Horse Sense of the Carolinas, Inc., an internationally-recognized leader in the field of Equine Assisted Psychotheraphy and Learning (EAP), and Horse Sense Business Sense, dedicated to supporting professionals in the field. Shannon has worked with EAP for over 30 years, teaching both horses and people. She began pairing "rescued" horses with people in 2001, and Horse Sense was formed soon after. Shannon is an EAGALA Advanced Certified Professional, which includes a rigorous training program, a commitment to evidence-based client solutions, an exclusive team approach, and a strong code of ethics. 


SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: We are featuring a service organization and a chance to donate needed goods at each Lunch and Learn. See information below on Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP). Donate what you can by bringing items to the Lunch and Learn, and they will be delivered to WNCAP.

Directions to CarePartners: From I-40, it's best to take exit 51 and turn R (right) at the end of the exit ramp onto 25A, Sweeten Creek Rd.  Go about a mile and turn L (left) at the big CarePartners sign and then immediately R (right) and up the hill.  At the top of the hill, turn L (left) into the parking lot and look for the VISITOR parking spaces closest to the main "rock" building.  Seymour Auditorium is in the Outpatient Services building to the right of the main "rock" building. 


From Biltmore Avenue, turn onto Sweeten Creek Road in Biltmore Village. Go a little over a half mile, and turn R (right) at the CarePartners sign. Follow the directions above.
