NASW-NC Member of the Week: Blair Barton-Percival

This week's NASW-NC Member of the Week is Blair Barton-Percival... congratulations, Blair!


Blair Barton-Percival received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. at the age of 35 in 1999. Prior to Cornell, Blair lived life reflective of those we want to serve today. He received Medicaid, Food Stamps, Unemployment, stood in food lines, and received help from Faith communities. While receiving Welfare, he earned his GED at the age of 25. After Cornell and Ithaca, NY, Blair moved west to study at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. At the University of Michigan, he earned a Master of Social Work degree and a Certificate in Gerontology. Blair has enjoyed living in North Carolina since the fall of 2000 and is currently the Director of the Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging (PTRC AAA).


In addition to his post at the Area Agency on Aging, Blair remains involved in numerous professional endeavors: he is currently a member of the North Carolina Association of Area Agencies on Aging (nc4a), on the board of the North Carolina Health Information and Communications Alliance, a delegate for North Carolina on the Board of the Southeastern Association of Area Agencies on Aging (SE4A), an alternate for Region IV on the Board of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and a board member of the National Association of Social Workers & North Carolina Association of Social Workers on the Political Action for Candidate Election and Legislative Committee.
