This week's NASW-NC Member of the Week is Wake County Local Program Unit Chair Nehal Outlaw... congratulations, Nehal!

Nehal Outlaw, LCSW feels so fortunate that she chose social work as a career. Being a social worker has benefited her both personally and professionally. She is an enormous advocate for the importance of both mental and physical well-being. In her social work career, she has worked as a therapist at Dorothea Dix Hospital, Wake County Public Department of Health, Wake County Mental Health Center, Depaul-Tulane inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit, and also worked with social work students as a field instructor, adjunct faculty, and undergraduate adviser at NC State University, her undergraduate alma mater. Go Pack! Currently she is working as a therapist at Mindful Mind and Body Associates. In the community, her experience as a social worker helped her as PTA wellness chair get a grant through Whole Foods for her son’s elementary school garden. She also brought in mindfulness and movement into the classrooms and promoted eating healthy “smart” snacks and meals for students and staff. Nehal has been an NASW member for over 25 years and has the honor of being co-chair for the Wake County LPU.
