The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is pleased to announce the launch of its Supervisory Leaders in Aging (SLA) program, with generous funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation. SLA is designed to improve the delivery of health care and social services to older adults by strengthening the supervision of staff providing direct social services. The program includes a five-day training and ongoing engagement in a growing chapter and national network of Supervisory Leaders in Aging. SLA will be piloted in four NASW chapters in 2015–2016. Applications are being accepted until July 15 for the New York City Chapter training, which takes place this fall. Trainings in Florida, Illinois, and Maryland will also be scheduled for spring 2016.

NASW has also developed a media toolkit on aging. The toolkit, which includes information on mental health and a link to NCMHA, is timed to coincide with the White House Conference on Aging, the 50th anniversaries of the OAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and the 80th anniversary of Social Security.
