As of February 1, 2023, CareDash, the health care referral and review website which had engaged in potentially deceptive marketing practice impacting social workers, is no longer in business. Thanks to our members, NASW was alerted to this practice last July. We
immediately developed a nationwide legal strategy to combat this
practice. Back in August 2022, NASW responded to member concerns about CareDash posting social worker profiles without permission and with incorrect information and their relationship with BetterHelp: https://www.naswnc.org/news/news.asp?id=613345 Immediately upon learning of this practice, NASW took the following steps: - Sent letters to CareDash and to BetterHelp demanding that the practice be halted immediately
- Filed our own complaint directly with the FTC on behalf of NASW members nationwide
- Engaged in direct discussions with BetterHelp to reach a resolution
- Shared information and strategized with our sister therapist organizations to increase our impact
- Worked with North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein's Consumer Protection team to expedite these complaints
As a result of these efforts, as noted above, BetterHelp disassociated itself from CareDash. Thank you to all the members who participated in this effort, your voice and advocacy made the difference.
