Intern with the only organization that advocates for the entire social work profession and social justice issues in North Carolina: NASW-NC!
Social work students at the BSW and MSW level can complete their required internship at NASW North Carolina! NASW-NC provides a unique macro experience in administrative and policy work with a significant focus on advocacy for the profession and for those we serve. The internship experience is individually tailored around the discipline and specialization of the student, the focus of the association, requirements of the social work program and student interests. Qualified internship instructors are committed to providing new and challenging experiences in an effort to maximize student learning.
Social work student interns will have the opportunity to explore:
- Advocacy & Policy Development
- Administrative Social Work
- Professional Development & Training
- Volunteer Management
- Membership Management
- Grassroots Organization
- Nonprofit Management and Leadership
Please note that these internships are fulfilled through BSW or MSW programs within North Carolina.
NASW-NC internships are virtual or hybrid placements.
Keep in mind that experiences at the North Carolina General Assembly depend on the time of your internship and when the legislators are in session.
Qualifications
Students must be enrolled in a social work program in North Carolina accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Open to Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work students.
Stipend: $2,000 per semester.
Deadline to apply is February 7, 2025. Applicants are welcome to apply at any time before the deadline, but please note that we will not be scheduling any intern interviews or making any internship decisions until after the application deadline.
