Did you know research has confirmed civic engagement to be a social determinant of health? Moreover, social workers are urged by the NASW’s Code of Ethics to engage in social and political action to ensure better social conditions that provide equity and justice to the people served. A simple way to do this is to register people to vote. To wrap up Civic Health Month and kick off Recovery Month, NASW-NC has partnered with Vot-ER to help prepare social work clinicians to incorporate voter registration efforts in their work with patients. This webinar will explore the evidence supporting civic engagement as a social determinant of health; prepare social workers for the critical role they play in improving the health outcomes of patients and clients through civic engagement; and provide tools that can be easily integrated into all practice settings to empower your clients to vote. For social workers seeking continuing education, one (1) hour of continuing education will be given to attendees who register and attend this event live. While this event may be livestreamed on multiple platforms, you must register and watch the event on Zoom to receive credit.
