Topic: The Leandro Plan and Its Implications for Strengthening Public Education in North Carolina The North Carolina Constitution mandates that the state provide every child with access to a sound basic education. By investing in the Leandro Comprehensive Remedial Plan, North Carolina is not only fulfilling this legal obligation but also positioning itself to deliver on this promise in a meaningful and transformative way. The plan offers a strategic path to addressing the long-standing inequalities in our education system, ensuring that all children have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
This presentation will discuss how the Leandro Plan is designed to meet this constitutional mandate, the challenges faced, and how professionals and the public can work together to advocate for the release of the $5.54 billion required to implement the plan. Hopes are that social workers will be inspired to share their stories. The #IAmLeandro initiative looks forward to cultivating interdisciplinary conversation and collaboration as we work toward a brighter future for North Carolina’s children. Presenter: Rebecca Trammel
