Topic: Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) in Children and Adolescents: Part 1

Historically, there has been a lack of education and understanding about the current best practices related to children and adolescents with problematic sexual behavior (PSB); this can lead to uncertainty and/or generalizations when working with this population. This presentation will educate participants about the risks and needs of youth with PSB, including: an overview of typical sexual development/behavior and PSB, origins of PSB, and myths surrounding this population.

Presenter: Rachel Maid, MSW, LCSW

Rachel Maid, MSW, LCSW, works for the Problematic Sexual Behavior Program at the North Carolina Child Treatment Program within the Center for Child and Family Health in Durham, NC. She is the Lead Clinician for the school-age and preschool versions of Problematic Sexual Behavior – Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBTTM) and a clinician in the adolescent version. She is also a Within Agency Trainer and a Trainer in Training for the National Center on the Sexual Behavior of Youth in PSB-CBTTM: School-age. In these roles, she provides treatment to children, adolescents, and their caregivers in group and family modalities; trains clinicians across North Carolina in PSB-CBTTM: School-age; educates and consults with community stakeholders about PSB; and participates in the implementation of a statewide PSB program. Additionally, she is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

CE: 1 Hour. Proof of attendance for CE will be distributed via email within one week after the event. Those registering as students will not receive CE for this event.
