Topic: Being Helpful and Hopeful in Difficult Times: Ethics of Care, Creativity, Courage and Community Ethical practice is especially challenging when social workers are stressed, working in organizational climates that do not clearly support the ethical norms of the profession and feeling disempowered and alone. This session is intended to assist participants to explore ways of responding to issues arising in practice in difficult times.

Joanne Hessmiller, Ph.D, LCSW, is a former social work educator, activist and member of the NASW National and NC Ethics Committees. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Social Welfare Action Alliance and on the Board of the Greensboro Health Disparities Collaborative.
