Topic: Generational Differences in the Experience of Grief: What to Know & How to Support Those Around You This presentation will examine how grief can manifest itself for individuals at different life stages. Using Erik Erikson’s Developmental Stages model as a framework, we will explore differences in grief responses and coping, as well as ways to support grieving individuals at various life stages.
Presenter: Mary Oppegaard, MSW, LCSWA, Grief Counselor Mary Oppegaard is a graduate of the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work. After graduating with her Master of Social Work in 2023, she began working full time as a grief counselor at a hospice agency in the Triad area of North Carolina. Mary is passionate about caring for others in the midst of loss and is continually grateful for the honor of hearing and sharing stories. When not working, Mary enjoys gardening, making art, and spending quality time with her husband and their two dogs.
