Topic: LGBTQI+ and Older Adults: Being Queer and Living Authentically This presentation will examine LGBTQI+ individuals that come out as older adults and the unique experiences, while addressing barriers towards obtaining fulfillment and joy. We will discuss trauma, their own shame/blame, and how this impacts their sense of self.
In addition, we will look at therapeutic approaches to address trauma, utilizing Dr. Kristen Neff's work of radical self-compassion, and how to move through the stigma and intersectionality of this population.
