Ms. Holton’s service extends outward, as she donates to scholarship opportunities that fund the work of her fellow social work professionals, provides pro bono hours of psychotherapy sessions for clients who are uninsured or underinsured, has worked with military veterans and their families, and participates in local river clean-up events. Ms. Holton is trained in critical incident stress management and disaster response, and as an animal-informed social worker, is the co-founder and facilitator of the Pet Loss & Grief Support Group in Greenville, NC. She also has worked extensively with the Wounded Warrior Project and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

Her honors include being named as an Eastern Carolina University 2018 40 Under 40 Leadership Awards recipient, as well as the East Carolina University School of Social Work Rising Star Alumni Award.

Kathy Boyd, former Executive Director of NASW-NC says, “Jessica is more than a rising star,” whose “work has had statewide impact for the social work profession.”
