Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) announced that it is extending its policy to pay providers at parity for telehealth services through Dec. 31, 2020. NASW North Carolina, with the North Carolina Joint Insurance Committee, has been meeting with Blue Cross NC regularly and advocated strongly for parity telehealth reimbursement at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. This advocacy has continued to ensure that behavioral health care is accessible through telehealth and providers are reimbursed at the same rate as in-person encounters.
NASW-NC continues to advocate for social workers across North Carolina. Without the members of NASW-NC, social work would not be at the table with insurers at the statewide level fighting for both provider reimbursement and provider/client safety.
