NCDHHS Issues Policy Paper on Updated Children and Families Specialty Plan

NCDHHS continues to advance the development of the Children and Families Specialty Plan (CFSP) that will support children, youth and families being served by the child welfare system. NCDHHS has updated key areas of the CFSP design in response to stakeholder feedback received through an extensive stakeholder engagement effort.

On Feb. 18, 2022, NCDHHS released a policy paper describing the updated design of the CFSP scheduled to launch in December 2023. 

The CFSP will be a statewide specialty NC Medicaid Managed Care plan to ensure access to comprehensive physical and behavioral health services while maintaining treatment plans when placements change. The CFSP will include care management services to improve coordination among service providers, families, involved entities (such as the Department of Social Services, Division of Juvenile Justice, schools) and other stakeholders involved in serving CFSP members.
