The NASW-NC Legislative Committee, with feedback from the members of NASW-NC and approval by the NASW-NC Board of Directors, has developed the NASW-NC 2023 Legislative Agenda. These items will be the focus of our advocacy efforts in the 2023 North Carolina Legislative Long Session and the 2024 Legislative Short Session (Learn more about North Carolina Legislative Sessions).

This is a working agenda that is not exhaustive. As legislative bills are introduced, they are reviewed and their impact on the profession is assessed. If you are a member of NASW-NC and would like more information about any of these items and/or to assist in the advancement of these issues, please contact advocacy.naswnc@socialworkers.org.

If you do not see any of your issues on the legislative agenda, let us know. We might be working on those efforts outside of legislative efforts through our coalition work. NASW-NC works in conjunction with multiple coalitions. These coalition groups share similar values and may be addressing your particular advocacy concerns.

We value the social work voice and those of our members throughout the legislative session. Please be sure to sign up for our advocacy alerts and weekly updates so you can stay up to date during the legislative session.

Please save the date for the 2023 North Carolina Social Work Advocacy Day on March 1, 2023. Registration opening soon.
