(Raleigh, NC) - The National Association of Social Workers North Carolina chapter is pleased to announce that North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has proclaimed March 2023 as National Social Work Month.

"Governor Cooper's recognition of Social Work Month this year and that Social Work Breaks Barriers highlights the importance of the social work profession as the largest group of mental health care providers in the United States. Social workers have helped this nation live up to its values by advocating for equal rights, improved health and mental health care for all,” says Valerie Arendt, Executive Director of NASW North Carolina. "We thank Governor Cooper for his recognition of our essential profession as we work to promote and enhance the power of social work in North Carolina.”
