Election Day is TOMORROW: Tuesday, November 5

Voting is our ethical obligation as social workers.

NASW Code of Ethics
6.04 Social and Political Action
(a) Social workers should engage in social and political action that seeks to ensure that all people have equal access to the resources, employment, services, and opportunities they require to meet their basic human needs and to develop fully.

You can find your polling place for Election Day here. You must vote at your assigned polling location.

On Election Day, polls will be open from 6:30am to 7:30pm. Absentee ballots must be returned by 7:30pm on Election Day.

You will need a valid form of photo ID to vote. You may ask to vote via Provisional Ballot at the polls if you do not have an ID.

Remember: If you are in line at your polling place by 7:30pm on Election Day, YOU CAN STILL VOTE. STAY IN LINE.

NASW-NC PACE Endorsements

NASW-NC's PACE Committee endorses candidates that best align with social work values and the growth and protection of the profession. You can see the NASW-NC PACE Committee's endorsements at the following link: 2024 PACE Endorsements - National Association of Social Workers NC Chapter

View NASW-NC's voting page for more voting information.

Vote “NO” on Constitutional Amendment

NASW-NC, along with other statewide advocates, are urging voters to “VOTE NO” and learn more about how this proposed constitutional amendment is harmful to vulnerable populations in North Carolina. The “citizens only voting” constitutional amendment ignores state and federal laws that already require U.S. citizenship to vote and robust election safeguards that ensure only qualified U.S. citizens cast ballots in our elections.

This proposed amendment is harmful because:

  • North Carolina elections are secure.
  • Creates confusion and chills naturalized citizens’ voting rights.
  • Immigrants and naturalized citizens are vital to North Carolina’s economy.

Read more about the constitutional amendment here.
