Applications are now open for the 2025 Injury-Free NC Academy on Harm Reduction as Transformative Practice Injury-Free NC, a collaboration between the North Carolina Division of Public Health, Injury and Violence Prevention Branch and the University of North Carolina's Injury Prevention Research Center, is launching the 2025 Injury-Free NC Academy on Harm Reduction as Transformative Practice. The purpose of this Academy is to work with community-based organizations, local health departments, coalitions, and individuals who are planning or have taken steps to establish an evidence-based, overdose prevention program or want to learn more about harm reduction principles and how to incorporate them into overdose prevention work. Each Academy session will take place in two parts: two days that will take place in person and two that will take place virtually. The Harm Reduction Academy will be offered twice in 2025 on the following dates: May Academy In-Person Session: May 1 & 2, 2025 Virtual Session: May 6 & 7, 2025 Location: Pembroke, NC July Academy In-Person Session: July 10 & 11, 2025 Virtual Session: July 15 & 16, 2025 Location: Winston-Salem, NC Participants will work together to learn how to operationalize harm reduction practices in their communities. This hybrid structure is intended to be very interactive and foster regional collaboration, with harm reduction experts providing insight on best practices and lessons learned from the field.
