Presented by: George Appenzeller, MSW, LCSW, ACSW, LPC
Providing intense treatment for children and young adults over a limited period of time in an
isolated environment has been practiced for many years. During the pandemic, a few programs
have used this method to allow services to be provided for special needs clients in a safe
manner. This presentation will explain how that has been done, the advantages and
disadvantages, and the potential future use of containers during long-term emergency situations
to avoid interruption of direct services rather than or in addition to using virtual services. A
specific example will be used to illustrate the approach.
