North Carolina Senators are quietly crafting their version of the state budget which they hope to release next week, so other legislation has been moving slowly.

The North Carolina House of Representatives MIGHT try to override the Governor's veto of SB 359 as early as TONIGHT! NASW-NC is against this bill as it is an extreme anti-women's health bill that is based on a false narrative and is not grounded in medical science or fact and we are in support of the Governor's veto. Write your House member and ask them to sustain the Governor's veto. The Senate has already voted to override the veto so a lot rests in the House to sustain the veto.

There are several protests happening around the state tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21st regarding the abortion bans happening around the country. Events are planned for Raleigh, Wilmington, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Winston Salem. Visit to RSVP for an event and find out details on each location.

REMINDER: NASW-NC's Legislative Agenda states:
(NASW-NC) Opposes any and all efforts to restrict people's access to abortion and reproductive health care, restrict providers' ability to fully practice within the scope of their profession, and restrict young people's access to factual and medically accurate comprehensive sexuality education.

House Bill 70 Update

NASW-NC is still pushing House Bill 70 Delay NC HealthConnex for Certain Providers as the deadline for providers to connect to the state's Health Information Exchange Authority is June 1st!
Please continue to urge Senators to take up this legislation. The House approved the bill in March with no opposition and the bill has been sitting in Senate Rules since March 28th. See more about this pressing matter on NASW-NC's website.
